Last day in Singapore!

Well, the day has come and I am heading back to Portland.  It is definitely bittersweet - I have made some amazing friends whom I will always be close with, even if we live 8,000 miles away from each other.  I am really looking forward to getting back to Kyle, my family and Zoe - it will be so nice to see them everyday!  I have grown and learned so much over these last nine months and I am so thankful for this amazing experience!  Lucasfilm was such a wonderful company to work for, and I couldn't have asked for a better team of Recruiters to work with!  I will definitely miss them!

My last vacation for a LONG time :)

Over the Easter weekend Tiffany, Phil and I went to Bali.  We arrived into Bali late on Thursday night and went right to the hotel in Seminyak.  When we woke up in the morning, we started our day off with a nice breakfast and then headed out to do some shopping, check out the beach, and then to the Uluwatu Temple.  The temple was my favorite!  There were monkeys ALL over the place!  You had to hold onto your belongings because these little monkeys were also little thieves.  If they could grab your stuff, they would!  Luckily none of them stole from us :)  At the temple, we also watched a really cool show.  After our temple visit we had a nice dinner at an Indonesian restaurant and were even surprised with a crazy show of men dressed as women singing Whitney Houston - interesting dinner entertainment, too funny!  Finally we had our personal driver (it was only like $35 each to have a driver the entire day!) dropped us off up at Ubud where we would spend the next day.  Our villa in Ubud was AMAZING!  I definitely took advantage of my weekend in Bali as this was my last trip for a very long time.  My next flight will be back to Portland on the 5th of June.  Here are some pictures from the weekend...
Phill, Tiffany and I outside of the temple, sporting our nice sarongs.
Little thief stole someones water bottle!
Two monkeys playing on the side of the cliff - they were really cute!
The offerings to the Hindu gods - they were EVERYWHERE!
The show at the temple.
Best part of the show - they set a bunch of dead grass on fire!
The pool at our Villa - the view was amazing!
The stairs up to the restaurant from our Villa - such a workout!

March travels...

I have been really bad about updating my blog lately, but there have been a lot of changes going on in my life!  Despite all the changes (all good changes ;)) I have still found time to squeeze in some travel.  A few weeks back, a group of us went to the beaches of Krabi, Thailand.  Ever since I saw the movie "The Beach" with Leonardo Dicaprio I have always wanted to visit this part of Thailand.  When we first arrived we took a long tail boat out to one of the other islands.  It took much longer than expected to get to this remote beach, but once we did it was well worth it (even though it was dark by this point ;))  On the walk back we got stuck in a thunder and lightning storm, but when it is 85 degrees it's not so bad being stuck in the rain.  The next day the group went scuba diving, but I decided to hang out on the beach and relax for the day - it was great!  Before leaving on Sunday we explored the area some more, ate good food and went shopping.  Overall we had a great time.  Here are some pictures from the weekend trip...

Near the beach

Only I would order Pizza in Thailand :)  It was actually pretty good!

Sunset on our first night - beautiful!

Amazing beach!

Next weekend we are heading to Bali, Indonesia.  This will be my last vacation for a long time - I am heading back to Portland on June 4th.  I am so excited to be back in Portland, but it will be hard to leave all my friends here in Asia!

Bangkok, Thailand

Over the Chinese New Year weekend myself, Lin (my roommate) and Kendra (Lin's girlfriend) all went to Bangkok for the long weekend (we had 2 days off from work).  Lin is from Thailand so we were able to explore Bangkok with a local which was very cool.  He speaks Thai too so that was very helpful!  We crammed a lot in over the 3 days - here are some highlights...

 Buddha at the Ancient Palace

There were stray dogs all over at the Ancient Palace

The sign around the corner said "No Climbing" - Lin couldn't resist
View of the ancient palace from one of the building windows
This cross between noodles and cotton candy was sold all over - you could even pull over on the side of the freeway to buy this treat.
The highlight of the trip (I really wanted to see an elephant :))  This elephant was tied up, but at one point it got free and was just wandering around.
The floating market (this was a little boy dressed in girls clothing)
People riding the elephants - they were fun to look at, but way to scary to ride!
Kendra and Lin riding in the Tuk Tuk
Our Tuk Tuk driver (they swerve in and out of traffic - pretty scary!)

Trying to take an "artsy photo" while riding the Tuk Tuk :)

 The Grand Palace

Next, we took a boat ride

Bangkok at night from one of the roof top bars - amazing view!
